Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) is a graduate school of the United States Navy. It is located in Monterey, California. NPS offers graduate programs, both resident and distance learning, in a number of areas including computer science, engineering, information science, mathematics, meteorology, and national security affairs. Its main campus is located on the grounds of the former Fort Ord, a U.S. Army post.

NPS was established in 1909 as the Postgraduate Department of the U.S. Naval Academy. The school became a fully accredited graduate school in 1952. In 1966, it was designated as a degree-granting institution by the Department of Defense.

NPS offers a wide variety of degree programs at the master's and doctoral level. It is also home to several research centers, including the Center for Homeland Defense and Security, the Center for Information Systems Security Studies and Research, and the Center for Naval Engineering Science and Technology.

NPS is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and is a member of the Association of American Universities. It is also one of the nation's top-ranked research universities, according to the National Science Foundation.

NPS graduates are highly sought after by employers, with many going on to careers in the military, government, and private industry.
