International Technological University (ITU) is a private, for-profit institution of higher education in San Jose, California. It was founded in 1984 as the International Academy of Computer Sciences and Information Technology and later renamed. ITU offers bachelor's and master's degrees in business administration, computer science, information technology, and engineering. The university is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
ITU was founded in 1984 as the International Academy of Computer Sciences and Information Technology (IACSIT). The school was originally located in San Francisco, but moved to San Jose in 1986. IACSIT was renamed International Technological University in 1996.
ITU offers bachelor's and master's degrees in business administration, computer science, information technology, and engineering. The bachelor's degree programs are offered in both English and Spanish, while the master's programs are offered in English only.
The university is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). ITU is also a member of the Association of Independent California Colleges and Universities (AICCU).
ITU has a student population of about 1,700, with approximately 60% of students being of Hispanic descent. The average age of students is 28. The university's faculty consists of about 100 full-time and part-time instructors.
The university's campus is located in downtown San Jose, near the intersection of San Fernando and Santa Clara Streets. The campus is spread out over several buildings, including the main academic building, which houses the library, computer labs, and classrooms; a student center; and a administration building.
ITU's library contains over 50,000 volumes and subscribes to over 200 periodicals. The library is a member of the Online Computer Library Center (OCLC) and the Association of Research Libraries (ARL).
The university's computer labs are open 24 hours a day and are equipped with a variety of software programs, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and Autodesk Maya.
ITU offers a number of student services, including academic advising, career counseling, tutoring, and financial aid. The university also has an active student government and a number of student organizations.
