Fordham University is a private research university in New York City. Founded in 1841 by the Catholic Diocese of New York, Fordham is the oldest Catholic university in the northeastern United States, and the third-oldest university in New York State. Fordham University's campus is divided into three main locations: the Rose Hill campus in the Bronx, the Lincoln Center campus in Manhattan's Upper West Side, and the Westchester campus in Westchester County. The university also operates two regional academic centers, one in Manhattan and the other in the Hudson Valley.

Fordham enrolls approximately 15,000 students from more than 80 countries and all 50 states. The university offers Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, and Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees in more than 60 majors and concentrations; Master of Arts, Master of Science, Master of Fine Arts, and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in more than 40 disciplines; and more than 30 professional degrees through its seven schools. The university's research spending totaled $257 million in 2018.

The Fordham Rams compete in the NCAA Division I Atlantic 10 Conference. Fordham's football team played in the first ever nationally televised football game on October 28, 1939. The Fordham Rams men's basketball team has appeared in the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament four times, most recently in 2020. The university's baseball team has appeared in the NCAA Division I Baseball Championship five times, most recently in 2019.
