Dickinson State University is a public university in Dickinson, North Dakota. It is part of the North Dakota University System. The university offers associate, bachelor's, and master's degrees. The school was founded in 1918 as Dickinson State Normal School, a two-year teaching college. It became Dickinson State Teachers College in 1922 and Dickinson State College in 1961. The name was changed to Dickinson State University in 1987. The university's athletic teams are known as the Blue Hawks.
