DePaul University is a private university in Chicago, Illinois. Founded by the Vincentians in 1898, the university takes its name from the 17th-century French priest Saint Vincent de Paul. In 2018, it was ranked as the nation's 10th largest private university by the U.S. News & World Report with an enrollment of 9,487.

DePaul's two main campuses are located in Lincoln Park and the Loop. The Lincoln Park campus is home to the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, School of Music, Theater School, and School of Education. The Loop campus houses the College of Communication, College of Computing and Digital Media, School of Law, and School of Business.

The university is organized into 10 colleges and schools, including the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the College of Communication, the College of Computing and Digital Media, the School of Education, the School of Law, the School of Business, the School of Music, the Theater School, the School for New Learning, and the Institute of Professional Development and Social Change.

The university offers more than 200 undergraduate and graduate programs of study, including bachelor's degrees, master's degrees, and doctoral degrees. DePaul also offers a number of professional degrees, such as the Juris Doctor (JD), the Master of Business Administration (MBA), and the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN).

DePaul's athletic teams compete in the NCAA Division I and are known as the DePaul Blue Demons. The Blue Demons compete in the Big East Conference for most sports.

DePaul University was founded in 1898 by the Vincentians, a Catholic religious order, as St. Vincent's College to serve the needs of the immigrant community in Chicago. The college was renamed DePaul University in 1907 in honor of the French priest Saint Vincent de Paul, the founder of the Vincentians.

The university began offering graduate programs in 1926 and today offers more than 200 undergraduate and graduate programs of study. DePaul is organized into 10 colleges and schools, including the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the College of Communication, the College of Computing and Digital Media, the School of Education, the School of Law, the School of Business, the School of Music, the Theater School, the School for New Learning, and the Institute of Professional Development and Social Change.
