Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine (BCOM) is a private, non-profit osteopathic medical school in Las Cruces, New Mexico. It was founded in 1987 and is one of only four osteopathic medical schools in the southwestern United States. BCOM is accredited by the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA) and offers the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree. The college also offers dual degree programs, master's degrees, and certificate programs.
BCOM's mission is to educate and train osteopathic physicians to provide quality health care to the people of New Mexico and the Southwest. The college is committed to offering a curriculum that is both rigorous and relevant to the needs of the community. BCOM is also dedicated to providing a supportive and nurturing environment for its students, faculty, and staff.
BCOM offers a four-year Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree program. The first two years of the program focus on basic sciences, while the last two years focus on clinical sciences. BCOM also offers dual degree programs, which allow students to earn a D.O. and a Master of Science (M.S.) in Biomedical Sciences, a Master of Public Health (M.P.H.), or a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) in addition to their D.O. degree.
BCOM's campus is located on the campus of New Mexico State University (NMSU) in Las Cruces, New Mexico. The college shares facilities with the other health science colleges on the NMSU campus, including the School of Medicine, the College of Nursing, and the College of Pharmacy. BCOM also has its own library, classrooms, and offices.
BCOM's faculty consists of experienced osteopathic physicians, basic scientists, and clinical educators. The college also has a number of adjunct faculty members who teach specific courses or provide clinical instruction. BCOM's student body is diverse, with students coming from all over the United States and several foreign countries.
BCOM is accredited by the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA). The college's D.O. degree program is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association's Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (AOA-COCA). BCOM's dual degree programs are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
BCOM is a member of the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM) and the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).
