American Public University System was founded in 1991 by Dr. Wallace E. Boston as American Military University (AMU). AMU was established to provide quality higher education to the men and women of the United States Armed Forces.
In 2002, APUS was established as a separate, non-profit institution, and the name was changed to American Public University System.
Today, APUS serves a global community of more than 100,000 students. The university offers associate, bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate degrees, as well as certificates, in a wide variety of subject areas.
