Eastern Mennonite University (EMU) is a private Mennonite university in Harrisonburg, Virginia. The university was founded in 1917 by the Virginia Mennonite Conference. EMU is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The university offers bachelor's degrees, master's degrees, and doctorates. EMU's student body consists of approximately 1,700 students from 35 states and 30 countries. The average class size is 15 students. The student-to-faculty ratio is 11:1.

EMU's campus is located in the Shenandoah Valley, approximately two hours from Washington, D.C. and Richmond, Virginia. The university's 200-acre (81 ha) campus includes a variety of academic, athletic, and residential buildings. The campus is home to two museums: the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Museum and the Virginia Museum of Natural History.

EMU is committed to peace and justice. The university's Center for Justice and Peacebuilding is the first of its kind in the United States. The center offers a master's degree in conflict transformation. EMU's Peaceful Paths program provides support for survivors of sexual and intimate partner violence.

EMU's athletics teams compete in the NCAA Division III. The university's men's teams are known as the Royals and the women's teams are known as the Royals. EMU offers a variety of varsity and club sports, including basketball, cross country, golf, lacrosse, soccer, track and field, and volleyball.

EMU is a member of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU). The university is also affiliated with the Mennonite Church USA.
