California State University-Los Angeles (CSULA) is a public university in Los Angeles, California. It is one of the 23 campuses of the California State University (CSU) system. The university offers bachelor's and master's degrees in a wide range of disciplines.

Founded in 1947 as Los Angeles State College, the university was initially part of the Los Angeles Community College District. It became a part of the CSU system in 1959 and was renamed to its current name in 1984. CSULA is the only public university in the city of Los Angeles and one of the two comprehensive universities in the CSU system.

The university is located in the eastern region of Los Angeles, just west of the downtown area. It is situated on a 160-acre (65-hectare) campus. The campus is home to the Charter College of Education, the Pat Brown Institute for Public Affairs, and the Hank Greenspun School of Journalism and Media Studies.

CSULA is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. It is ranked as one of the top comprehensive universities in the Western United States by U.S. News & World Report. The university has an enrollment of over 24,000 students, of which nearly 60% are Hispanic or Latino.
