The American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA) is a performing arts conservatory with locations in New York City and Los Angeles. AMDA is dedicated to the training of professional performers and technicians in the musical theatre and film/television industries.

The Academy was founded in 1964 by a group of industry professionals, including actors, directors, producers, and musicians. AMDA’s first class of students consisted of just over 100 students.

Since its inception, AMDA has trained thousands of students from all over the world. The Academy’s curriculum is designed to give students the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in the competitive world of entertainment.

In addition to its rigorous academic program, AMDA also offers a number of performance opportunities for its students. These include regular showcases and events, as well as the opportunity to perform in professional productions.

AMDA’s alumni include some of the most successful names in the entertainment industry, such as Academy Award-winning actress Viola Davis, Tony Award-winning actor and singer Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Emmy Award-winning actor Neil Patrick Harris.
