West Hills College Lemoore (WHCL) is located in Lemoore, California in Kings County. The college is part of the West Hills Community College District and serves the cities of Hanford and Corcoran. WHCL is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. The college offers Associate in Arts (AA) and Associate in Science (AS) degrees, as well as certificates of achievement in 27 different areas of study.
WHCL first opened its doors in September of 1955 as Lemoore Union High School District Junior College. The college was founded in response to the growing need for higher education in the area. The college originally operated out of two temporary buildings on the campus of Lemoore Union High School. In 1957, the college moved to its current location on Hanford-Armona Road. The college underwent a name change in 1962 to West Hills College Lemoore.
The college has seen a lot of growth over the years. The campus now consists of eight buildings, including a library, a gymnasium, and a performing arts center. The college offers a wide variety of academic programs and services to its students. WHCL is committed to providing a quality education at an affordable price.
