The University of Arkansas Community College-Batesville (UACCB) is a two-year public institution of higher education and the flagship campus of the University of Arkansas Community College System. The college is located in Batesville, Arkansas, in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains. The college serves a five-county area in north-central Arkansas: Independence, Izard, Sharp, Stone, and White.
UACCB offers associate degrees and certificates in a variety of academic and technical fields. The college also provides adult education and workforce development programs, as well as community and continuing education courses.
UACCB is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. The college is also accredited by the Arkansas State Board of Nursing and the National League for Nursing Accreditation Commission.
The University of Arkansas Community College-Batesville was founded in 1975 as Independence County Community College. The college began with two buildings and an enrollment of just over 400 students. In 1987, the college was renamed Batesville Technical Institute. The name was changed again in 1997 to Batesville Area Vocational-Technical School. In 1999, the school became a community college and was renamed University of Arkansas Community College-Batesville.
UACCB has grown steadily over the years, and now comprises eight buildings on a 60-acre campus. The college has an enrollment of over 2,000 students and offers over 50 degree and certificate programs.
UACCB is committed to providing quality education and training that meet the needs of the community and the workforce. The college offers a variety of services to its students, including academic advising, career counseling, tutoring, and job placement assistance. UACCB also has an active Student Government Association that provides leadership opportunities and organizes campus events.
