Tri-County Technical College (TCTC) is a two-year public institution of higher education located in Pendleton, South Carolina. TCTC was founded in 1962 as Tri-County Vocational-Technical School, a public vocational school serving Anderson, Oconee, and Pickens counties. The school was created in response to the need for skilled workers in the local textile industry. In its early years, the school offered programs in textile production, machine shop technology, and electronics. In the 1970s, the school began to expand its program offerings to include more traditional academic subjects, such as English and math. In the 1980s, the school changed its name to Tri-County Technical College and began offering associate degree programs. Today, TCTC is a comprehensive two-year college serving over 10,000 students each year.
