Southeast Technical College was founded in 1968 as Southeast Area Vocational-Technical School. It became a community college in 1984 and was renamed Southeast Technical Institute. In 2003, the college was renamed Southeast Technical College.
The college has four campuses: the Main Campus in Sioux Falls, the Northwest Campus in Watertown, the Northeast Campus in Huron, and the Southwest Campus in Yankton.
