Scottsdale Community College (SCC) is a public community college in Scottsdale, Arizona. It is one of the 10 colleges in the Maricopa County Community College District. SCC offers associate degrees, certificate programs, and continuing education courses.
SCC was founded in 1963 as Scottsdale Junior College. It was originally located in downtown Scottsdale. In 1965, the college moved to its current location on the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community. In 1968, the college was renamed Scottsdale Community College.
SCC offers over 100 associate degree and certificate programs. The most popular programs are in business, health, and engineering. SCC also has a strong liberal arts program.
SCC is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. It is also a member of the American Association of Community Colleges and the Association of Arizona Colleges and Universities.
SCC has an active student life. There are over 60 student clubs and organizations on campus. The college also has a vibrant athletics program. The SCC Art Club is one of the most active clubs on campus. It organizes art shows and events throughout the year.
SCC is located in the heart of the Sonoran Desert. The campus is adjacent to the McDowell Sonoran Preserve, one of the largest urban parks in the United States.
