San Antonio College (SAC) is a public community college in San Antonio, Texas. It is part of the Alamo Colleges District and is the oldest and largest of the five colleges in the district. SAC offers associate's degrees and certificate programs in a variety of fields, as well as continuing education and workforce development opportunities.

SAC was founded in 1925 as San Antonio Junior College, the first junior college in Texas and the second in the nation. The college was originally housed in the old San Antonio High School building on the city's East Side. In its early years, the college served mostly white, middle-class students from the surrounding area.

In the 1950s, the college began to grow rapidly, adding new programs and facilities to meet the needs of a growing student population. In 1959, the college moved to its current location on the West Side of San Antonio. The new campus allowed the college to expand its programs and services, and in the 1960s, SAC became one of the first community colleges in the nation to offer a two-year nursing program.

Today, SAC is a diverse, multicultural college serving more than 25,000 students each semester. The college offers more than 140 degree and certificate programs, and is one of the top producers of associate's degrees in the state of Texas. SAC is also home to a number of unique programs, including the only automotive technology program in the Alamo Colleges District, and the only mortuary science program in the state.

In addition to its academic programs, SAC is also home to a number of athletics teams, clubs, and organizations. The college is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and offers a variety of sports, including basketball, baseball, softball, and track and field. SAC also has a strong performing arts program, with a number of choirs, bands, and theatre groups that perform throughout the year.

San Antonio College is a vibrant and active community college that offers a variety of educational and extracurricular opportunities for its students. Whether you're looking for a degree program to prepare you for a four-year university, or you're interested in exploring a new hobby or interest, SAC has something to offer.
