Salt Lake Community College is a public community college in the U.S. state of Utah. It is the largest community college in the state of Utah and the second largest college in the state, after the University of Utah. The college has its main campus in the city of Salt Lake City, and its other campuses in Sandy, Taylorsville, South City, and West Valley City. Salt Lake Community College was founded in 1948 as a vocational school. It was originally known as the Salt Lake Area Vocational School. The school was created in response to the need for skilled workers in the post-World War II economy. The school offered courses in a variety of trades, such as auto mechanics, carpentry, and welding. In 1962, the school was renamed the Salt Lake Area Technical College. In 1967, the college moved to its current location on State Street in Salt Lake City. In 1977, the college was renamed Salt Lake Community College.

The college has grown significantly since its founding. It now has nine campuses across the Salt Lake Valley, and its enrollment has grown to over 60,000 students. The college offers a wide variety of programs, including over 200 associate's degree and certificate programs. The college is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities.
