Admission Requirements

Orange County Community College (OCCC) is a two-year institution of higher education located in Middletown, New York. OCCC is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. The College offers programs leading to the Associate in Arts (A.A.), Associate in Science (A.S.), and Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degrees, as well as to certificates in a variety of occupational areas.

Admission to OCCC is open to any student who has a high school diploma or its equivalent. Students who do not have a high school diploma or its equivalent may be admitted to the College if they pass the College’s Ability-To-Benefit (ATB) test.

All new students are required to complete a Student Information Form and to take a Placement Test prior to registering for classes. The Placement Test is used to determine a student’s English and Math skills levels. Students who do not place into English Composition I (ENG 101) or Math 105 must complete developmental courses in English and/or Math before they can register for credit-bearing courses.

Students who have been away from OCCC for one semester or more must reapply for admission.
