Northern Essex Community College (NECC) is a public, two-year community college located in the towns of Haverhill and Lawrence, Massachusetts. The college offers associate degrees and certificate programs in a variety of academic and vocational fields.

NECC was established in 1961 as a result of a merger between the Haverhill Trade School and the Lawrence Evening Institute. The college originally operated out of a single building in downtown Haverhill. In its early years, the college primarily served students from the surrounding communities who were seeking to enter the workforce or to upgrade their job skills.

Today, NECC enrolls over 11,000 students from more than 60 countries. The college offers over 80 academic programs and has earned a reputation for providing an affordable, high-quality education. NECC is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).

NECC has two main campuses, one in Haverhill and one in Lawrence. The Haverhill campus is home to the college's administration offices, as well as the schools of Business and Technology, Health Sciences, and Liberal Arts and Sciences. The Lawrence campus houses the School of Nursing and the School of Visual and Performing Arts.

NECC also operates a number of off-campus facilities, including the David T. McLaughlin Fitness and Recreation Center, the Haverhill Public Library, and the NECC Riverwalk.

The college is governed by a nine-member Board of Trustees, which includes representatives from the communities served by the college. The president of the college is Dr. Lane Glenn.

Northern Essex Community College is committed to providing an accessible, affordable, and high-quality education to all who seek it. The college strives to create a supportive and inclusive environment that fosters student success.
