Northeast State Community College is a public community college in Blountville, Tennessee. It is part of the Tennessee Board of Regents system of colleges and universities. The college offers associate's degrees, certificates, and continuing education opportunities.
Northeast State was founded in 1966 as the Tri-Cities Branch of the University of Tennessee. It became a community college in 1969 and was renamed Northeast State Technical Institute. In 1987, the name was changed to Northeast State Community College.
The college has four campuses in Blountville, Elizabethton, Gray, and Kingsport. It also has six off-campus centers located in Bristol, Johnson City, Greeneville, Elizabethton, and Kingsport.
Northeast State offers over 100 programs of study leading to associate's degrees and certificates. The most popular programs are in the areas of business, health sciences, and engineering technologies.
The college is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. It is also accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs.
Northeast State has an open admissions policy and does not require entrance exams for admission. The college has a student population of over 11,000.
Northeast State is a member of the Tennessee Community College Athletic Association and offers a variety of intercollegiate sports programs. The college also has a number of student clubs and organizations.
