Admission Requirements
Hinds Community College is a two-year public institution of higher learning located in central Mississippi. The College is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Hinds Community College is accredited by the Mississippi Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning. The College is also accredited by the following agencies: National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences, Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs, Council on Occupational Education, and Mississippi Department of Education.
Admission to Hinds Community College is open to anyone who has a high school diploma or equivalent. The College does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, disability, or age in its programs and activities.
The College has an open-admission policy for the following programs: Adult Education, Basic Education, Career and Technical Education, Dual Enrollment, GED®, and High School Equivalency.
The College also offers a number of selective-admission programs. These programs have specific admission requirements that must be met in order to be considered for admission. Selective-admission programs at Hinds Community College include: Allied Health, Business and Office Technology, Cosmetology, Dental Assisting, Dental Hygiene, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Emergency Medical Technology, Funeral Service Education, Information Systems Technology, Instrumentation Technology, Massage Therapy, Nursing, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Pharmacy Technology, Physical Therapy Assistant, Radiologic Technology, Respiratory Therapy, Surgical Technology, and Veterinary Technology.
To be considered for admission to a selective-admission program, applicants must submit a completed application, official high school transcripts or GED® scores, and any other required documentation. Applicants will also be required to take a placement test to determine their course of study.
Hinds Community College has a rolling admissions policy. This means that applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Applicants are encouraged to apply early to ensure their place in the program of their choice.
