Georgia Piedmont Technical College, located in DeKalb County, Georgia, is a two-year college that offers associate degrees, technical certificates, and continuing education. The college is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. Georgia Piedmont Technical College was founded in 1961 as DeKalb Area Technical School. The school became a part of the Technical College System of Georgia in 1987 and was renamed DeKalb Technical Institute. In 2000, the name was changed again to Georgia Piedmont Technical College. The college offers programs in business and information technology, health sciences, industrial and engineering technologies, public safety, and transportation. Georgia Piedmont Technical College has campuses in Clarkston and Covington, and a satellite campus in Lithonia. The college also has a workforce development center and a continuing education center.
