Admission Requirements
Folsom Lake College (FLC) is a two-year community college located in Folsom, California. The college is part of the Los Rios Community College District and offers associate degrees and certificate programs. FLC is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
Admission to FLC is open to all students who meet the minimum requirements. To be eligible for admission, students must:
1. Be a high school graduate or have a GED certificate.
2. Complete the online application and submit all required documents.
3. Take the placement tests, if required.
4. Meet with a counselor to develop an education plan.
5. Register for classes.
6. Pay tuition and fees.
Students who do not meet the minimum requirements may be eligible for admission through the Alternative Admission Process. This process is designed for students who have the ability to succeed in college but may not have the necessary academic qualifications. To be considered for admission through the Alternative Admission Process, students must:
1. Submit an application for admission.
2. Submit an essay explaining their educational goals.
3. Submit a letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, or employer.
4. Meet with a counselor to discuss their educational goals.
5. Register for classes.
6. Pay tuition and fees.
Students who are admitted through the Alternative Admission Process will be required to complete a Developmental Education Plan. This plan will identify the courses the student needs to take to prepare for college-level coursework.
