Admission Requirements
East Los Angeles College (ELAC) is a public community college in the Los Angeles County, California area. The college is located in the City of Monterey Park. ELAC opened in 1945 as East Los Angeles Junior College.
To be eligible for admission to ELAC, applicants must:
1) Be a high school graduate or have completed the GED;
2) Be 18 years of age or older;
3) Complete the online application;
4) Submit official high school transcripts or GED scores;
5) Submit official college transcripts (if applicable);
6) Submit a non-refundable application fee of $46;
7) Take the placement test or submit SAT/ACT scores; and
8) Meet with a counselor to develop an education plan.
ELAC offers over 100 academic programs leading to an Associate degree or certificate. The most popular majors include Business, Nursing, Liberal Arts, and Psychology.
The college has an open-door admission policy, meaning that any applicant who meets the above requirements will be admitted. ELAC does not consider race, color, national origin, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or religion in the admissions process.
