The purpose of this scholarship is to reduce the financial pressure on students and their families and make a Grand Valley education accessible to students from Ypsilanti Community Schools, Muskegon Heights Public School Academy System, Van Dyke Public Schools in Macomb County, Detroit Public Schools Community District, and Urban Schools identified by the GVSU Admissions Office. Barbara H. Padnos International Scholarship
The Barbara H. Padnos International Scholars program is intended to support substantive study abroad programs for GVSU undergraduates. Recognizing the benefit that long-term study abroad can provide to students throughout their lifetimes, the Barbara H. Padnos International Scholars program provides opportunities for students to engage in long-term study, thereby acquiring an in-depth understanding of the language, culture, and values of another country. Ideally, Padnos scholars will spend as much time as possible in the host country/culture. Therefore, only students studying abroad for two semesters or an academic year at one location will be considered eligible, with special consideration for students who have a plan to spend more than 10 months abroad (up to and beyond a full calendar year).
The Padnos Scholar selection process is meant to identify the most promising applicants: those who demonstrate great potential for success through study abroad, as well as those who will positively share their year-abroad experience with others.
Student must be full time, degree seeking students attending a full year overseas study program (two semesters, one location)
Student must have earned a minimum of 24 credits by time of application
Students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0
Students must be planning to spend at least two full semesters in the host country/culture, ideally a full calendar year

Battle Creek Student Teaching Scholarship
Grand Valley State University’s College of Education and the W.K. Kellogg Foundation have partnered with Battle Creek Public Schools to offer the Battle Creek Public Schools Student Teaching Scholarship. Scholarship funding covers full tuition for up to 16 undergraduate credit hours. Recipients also receive a $4,300 stipend to assist with cost of housing, textbooks, and mileage.

Bcps - Health And Teacher Education Pipeline Scholarship
The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to graduates of Battle Creek Central High School who intend to pursue a bachelor’s degree in either Nursing, Health Professions or Teacher Education and encourage recipients to pursue experiential learning and career opportunities in Battle Creek.
These scholarships will include the following for eight semesters of full-time undergraduate study:
-cost of tuition and fees (12-15 credits per semester)

Becker Cpa Course Scholarship
The Becker CPA Course scholarship is awarded to a student who will take the CPA exam within one year that shows potential to excel in passing the examination the first time. Becker Professional Review was established in 1957 and celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2007. The value of the program is $3,393. In 2014, 53 out of 59 Watt Sells winners used Becker to prepare for the CPA exam.
Students must be full-time undergraduates and accounting majors

Benjamin Mutnick Mettle Award For Hospitality And Tourism Management
This scholarship was established in memory of GVSU HTM Professor, Ben Mutnick (please click donor information below to read more about Professor Mutnick). The purpose of this award is to recognize an HTM student who, like Professor Mutnick, has persevered through and/or overcome challenging or adverse conditions in their own lives while, at the same time, achieving success in the HTM Program. Each award recipient will demonstrate a sincere motivation to succeed, despite such trials and tribulations. Students should note that this award is not limited solely to those individuals who may have overcome severe illness, but is available to those students who endured any significant obstacle with an optimistic aspiration to succeed, despite all odds.

The purpose of this scholarship is to annually award a scholarship to any current or former (who have exhausted eligibility) GVSU student-athletes who are majoring in education. This scholarship will cover courses taken in the semester(s) that will not interfere with the players’ athletic program eligibility, including fall, winter or spring/summer semesters, and will assist with degree completion.

Breen Scholarship
The History Department of the Arts and Humanities, GVSU offer an annual Quirinus Breen Prize in honor of Professor Quirinius Breen. This award is for student research essays on historical subjects. Essays may be developed from class assignments or written especially for a particular year’s competition.

The Career Center of Grand Valley State University established this award to help off-set the costs of working in unpaid internships for students who have demonstrated financial need.

Carl and Claudia Bajema created this scholarship in order to provide GRPS graduates who are Grand Rapids residents with the opportunity to access a Grand Valley education.
Recipients of this scholarship must be graduates of GRPS and accepted at GVSU.
Candidates must have at least a 3.5 high school GPA and 24 ACT or 1180 SAT

If the recipient is enrolled for fewer than 12 hours, the award will be prorated.
Transfer students are also eligible for this scholarship if they are graduates of a GRPS high school, residents of Grand Rapids at the time of graduation from the GRPS high school, and meet the high school GPA and ACT score requirements specified above.

The First Generation Urban Schools Scholarship was established to provide opportunities for new incoming students who are the first in their families to attend college and may receive little encouragement and financial support to attend.

The purpose of the Johnson Leadership Scholarship is to provide financial support for students interested in traveling abroad to advance their leadership skills in any career or area of interest. The scholarship will encourage students who are committed to lifelong learning, developing a global perspective and making a difference. By encouraging study abroad, they hope that students will aspire to what is called `Arete, Greek word meaning to live up to one’s full potential and greatest effectiveness.
Recipients for this scholarship should be accepted or fully enrolled at GVSU

$2,000 Study Abroad Scholarship for incoming undergraduate Freshmen
More than 100 incoming Freshmen will be selected each year to receive this $2,000 scholarship, which can be used towards a GVSU approved study abroad program anytime during their 4 years at GVSU. Study abroad is the opportunity to study outside of the United States while earning GVSU credit.
To apply, write a compelling essay (200-500 words) about where you would want to study abroad and why. We encourage you to include how studying abroad would impact you on a personal, professional or academic level. The essay will be the primary consideration for awarding the scholarship, so the committee encourages you to put thought and time into it.

Mark A & Elizabeth C. Murray Study Abroad Scholarship
The Mark A. & Elizabeth C. Murray Scholarship for Study Abroad is intended to support students who wish to study outside of the United States but without this fund would otherwise not be able to afford to do so.
Students must be enrolled full-time as degree-seeking students and making satisfactory academic progress. Recipients must be taking for credit coursework outside of the United States of America
Must demonstrate need for financial assistance with travel expenses (airfare, passports, etc.) and show that international study for them would be impossible without such assistance
Filing a FAFSA will help demonstrate financial need. Must have a current FAFSA form on file with GVSU’s Financial Aid office, in order to help demonstrate appropriate financial need
Students must also be planning on participating on an approved for-credit Study Abroad program that involves overseas study for no fewer than 8 weeks

Marney Houseman Macadam Voice Scholarship
The purpose of this scholarship is to reward exceptional voice students by assisting them with the cost of their education at Grand Valley State University (GVSU).
Recipients of this scholarship shall have been accepted for or currently enrolled as degree seeking students at GVSU.
They must be an undergraduate with 55 or more earned credit hours and enrolled for 12 credit hours or more in Bachelor of Music (voice performance), Bachelor of Music Education (vocal), or Bachelor of Art (vocal emphasis)
Must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or greater and shall be making satisfactory academic progress according to the norms established by the University

The Henry Internship places a GVSU student in the Washington, D.C. offices of one of Michigan’s U.S. Representative or Senators during the spring/summer session. The Paul B. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to qualified descendants of physical plant service (PSP) employees who are Maintenance/Grounds/Service (MGS) and Police Staff employees and retirees.

Must be enrolled full (12 credits) or part-time (6 credits) in good academic standing.
Be a biological, adopted or stepchild of an employee with one and one half years or more of seniority in a permanent position currently working for GVSU in MGS or Police Staff

The Society of Manufacturing Engineering Engineers Grand Rapids Chapter 38 Scholarship is dedicated to the education of future manufacturing professionals in west Michigan. The scholarship provides students in the west Michigan area with a cash award ranging from $250 to $1,000 to pursue their education in fields related to manufacturing. To be eligible you must be:

The Young Black Making A Difference (Ybmad) Scholarship
The Young Black Making a Difference (YBMaD) scholarship program is designed to assist financially needy, academically competitive students who identify as African American. These scholarships are part of the non profits ongoing commitment to education.
YBMaD offers two scholarships $250 each, to students who have kids and are from communities who face limited access to educational career opportunities.
Eligibility:
Applicant must identify as a student parent with parenting responsibilities (including but not limited to child support, care visits, academic support, guardianship etc.).
Applicant must have a current minimum GPA 2.5 (i.e. good academic standing).
Currently enrolled college student who has at least one parent of African American or Black Caribbean heritage.
Selection priority is given to applicants who have kids.
Scholarship recipients must enroll in and attend a two or four-year accredited college or university or vocational/technical school. Verification of enrollment is required. Scholarship funds will be paid via check directly to the accredited institution in which the student is enrolled. Scholarship funds will not be paid directly, nor reimbursed, to an award recipient.
Eligible students must submit a complete application and attach all of the required documentation or their application will not be reviewed.
