Technical Learning Centers, Inc. (TLC) is a Washington, D.C.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides job training and placement assistance to low-income individuals and families in the Washington metropolitan area. TLC was founded in 1971 by two D.C. residents, Mary and Josephine Tompkins, who saw a need for job training and placement services in the city's low-income communities. TLC's programs are designed to help participants overcome barriers to employment, such as lack of education or work experience, and to connect them with good-paying jobs in the region's growing industries. TLC has helped thousands of Washingtonians find employment and build careers in a variety of industries, including healthcare, hospitality, construction, and information technology.
