Grand River Technical School (GRTS) is a public, two-year technical college located in Chillicothe, Missouri. The school is part of the North Central Missouri College District and offers associate degrees and technical certificates in a variety of career and technical fields.
GRTS was founded in 1966 as the Grand River Area Vocational-Technical School, a joint effort between the Chillicothe R-II School District and the City of Chillicothe. The school initially offered programs in auto mechanics, carpentry, cosmetology, and welding. In its first year, the school enrolled just over 100 students.
Since its founding, GRTS has grown significantly, both in terms of enrollment and program offerings. The school now serves over 600 students and offers over 30 different programs. GRTS is accredited by the Missouri Department of Higher Education and is a member of the Missouri Association of Career and Technical Education.
