Asian-American International Beauty College was founded in 1981 by two Vietnamese-American sisters, Loan and Thu Nguyen. The sisters had immigrated to the United States in 1978, and after working in the beauty industry, they decided to open their own school. The college was originally located in a small space in Garden Grove, California, but soon relocated to a larger facility in Westminster.

The college has been accredited by the National Accrediting Commission of Career Arts and Sciences since 1984. In addition to its cosmetology programs, the school offers an esthetician program, which was added in 1997, and a nail technician program, which was added in 2006.

The college's cosmetology program includes courses in hair cutting, styling, and coloring; skin care; makeup; and nail care. The esthetician program includes courses in facials, waxing, and makeup application; the nail technician program includes courses in manicures, pedicures, and nail art.

Students in the cosmetology program must complete 1,600 hours of study, while students in the esthetician and nail technician programs must complete 600 hours and 400 hours of study, respectively. Upon completion of their programs, students must pass a state-administered examination in order to obtain a license.

The college offers a variety of financial aid options for students, including grants, loans, and scholarships. It also offers job placement assistance to graduates.
