100 Club Scholarship (General I)

1. To be eligible applicants must be a present or retired Memphis or Shelby county Law Enforcement officer or Fire Department personnel or immediate family member.
Immediate family members of deceased law enforcement or fire department personnel are also eligible.
2. Immediate family members are defined as the law enforcement employee or firefighter, their spouse and children, both natural and adopted. Non-adopted stepchildren
will be eligible if they are under the age of 18 and reside in the same household as an eligible law enforcement employee or firefighter. Children over the age of 18
must reside in the same household as an eligible law enforcement officer or firefighter.
3. Law enforcement employee or firefighter must have 10 year service record if retired, or five years if still employed. Whether retired or not, there must be a minimum of
5 years service as a ‘first responder’ or equivalent capacity in the case of law enforcement where the law enforcement officer is an employee involved in the active
response to calls for law enforcement assistance, and in the case of firefighters, five years service as firefighter, EMT, or paramedic in a non administrative capacity.
The service periods must be years of full-time, commissioned service in a potentially life-threatening situation as part of your regular duties. Criteria must be verified by
HR office and have their official seal.
4. Sheriff’s Department deputy jailers and correction officers who meet the service time requirements criteria may be eligible.
5. No law enforcement officer or firefighter (including immediate family members) is eligible if officer or firefighter was terminated for misconduct or resigned because of
misconduct.
6. Recipients must be a high school graduate or a high school junior or senior on course to graduation at time of application.
7. Must maintain a 2.5 GPA to remain eligible for scholarship to be renewed for second semester.

Adult Scholarship (Student Academic Success)

The Adult Scholarship Program is designed to help adult students reach their educational goal of receiving their first Bachelors Degree. This highly competitive, scholarship is $5,500 per year for full-time students/$2,750 per year for part-time students and is awarded annually to a limited number of students. Students should apply for admission and be accepted as a degree seeking undergraduate student by March 12th.
Selection Criteria
1. In-state and out-of-state undergraduate students are eligible.
2. Must be pursuing first undergraduate degree to be eligible.
3. Students must reach their 25th birthday by August 1st of application year.
4. Current students must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA and new students must meet Adult Admission requirements to be considered for selection.
5. Part-time students must complete a minimum of 6 hours and full-time students must complete a minimum of 12 hours per semester.
6. Preference given to students who do not already have a scholarship.
Renewal Requirements
1. Renewable for up to eight full time or equivalent part-time semesters (dependent upon class level at the time the scholarship is awarded)
2. Minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0.

Emerging Leaders Scholarship (Student Academic Success)

The Emerging Leaders Scholarship is awarded to in-state and out-of-state first-year students who demonstrate an interest in leadership development and qualify for eligibility according to our requirements. It is available to first time students and renewable for up to 4 years for students attending the main University of Memphis campus. Applicants must have applied and been accepted to the University of Memphis. Eligible Students must have a 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale.)
After the initial application process, an interview process will be conducted before the final Emerging Leader cohort is chosen. The interview process will take place on-campus in mid-February during business hours. Students who are chosen for the interview process will receive further details via email. In the event that a student cannot travel to the University, there will be a virtual interview opportunity.
Note: The scholarship cannot be combined with University wide academic scholarships, including Dean, Provost or Presidential scholarships.
Renewable Criteria
1. Renewable with maintenance of 3.00 cumulative GPA.
2. Renewable each semester with the completion of all paperwork and other program responsibilities, including workshops, campus and community involvement, professional development activities, academic coursework, and speaker and program specific meeting attendance, as outlined and communicated by program staff each fall and spring semester.
3. Recipient must enroll as a full-time student during the fall and spring semester, completing at least 12 credit hours per semester and 24 hours annually. No scholarship will be available during summer classes.
4. Selected applicants must attend New Student Orientation (separate from student athlete orientation), Frosh Camp, and a retreat for incoming Emerging Leaders in the summer before their first semester. All dates will be communicated at the time of selection.
5. Students must live in the Emerging Leaders Learning Community during the first year of the program and must remain enrolled at the main University of Memphis campus during all semesters the scholarship is awarded. Recipients will be students enrolled in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Quality Engineering, or Industrial Engineering
who have maintained an overall 3.0 grade point average during their Freshman and Sophomore years and
are in good standing with the University.
The first year (2016-2017), one Junior and one Senior recipient will be selected; thereafter, one Junior recipient will be selected.

Robert W. Yates Choral Music Scholarship (Rudi E. Scheidt School Of Music)

This award(s) shall be given to
1. Undergraduate students who are members of a Choral Ensemble at the University of Memphis and
2. Shall be nominated by the Director of such group with the appropriate approval of the Director of the School of Music and Dean
3. For the purpose of providing travel assistance to qualifying students for trips more than three days in length and for expenses not otherwise covered by the University of Memphis.
4. Recipients must be in good academic standing with a minimum GPA of 2.00 and maintain good standing as a member of a University of Memphis Choral Ensemble.
5. Students with demonstrated financial need as demonstrated by FAFSA will be given preference.
6. Funds are to be disbursed half for the fall semester and half for the spring, unless the recipient is graduating in the fall, in which case the full award may be disbursed for fall semester. (Student must have applied for graduation and be reflected in Banner as such).
From the donor as to why this scholarship exists. “I have always been interested and involved in must most of my life. During my time in college at Arkansas State, I participated in various choral music groups. After completing graduate school at the UofM in 1968, I worked in the UofM Undergraduate Admissions Office until retirement in 1997. During that time, I traveled with various music ensembles on recruiting trips. I was with the University Singers when they performed at the World’s Fair in New Orleans and at Carnegie Hall.
Because of my travels with the Singers, I became aware that there were members of the group from time to time who could not participate because of financial and/or work restrictions. Since my experience in college music programs were so meaningful to me, I didn’t want a lack of means to keep others from this same enjoyment. The Luther C. Mcclellan Alumni Chapter Scholarship (Alumni Association)

Luther C. McClellan was one of the Memphis State Eight who were the first African-American students admitted to Memphis State University in 1959. Mr. Luther C. McClellan became the first African-American to graduate from The University of Memphis in 1962, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics.
The Luther C. McClellan Alumni Chapter was established in May 1987 to encourage African-American alumni of The University of Memphis to participate in the activities of the National Alumni Association. The Luther C. McClellan scholarship was established in 1988 to assist deserving students at The University of Memphis.
The Luther C. McClellan Chapter of The University of Memphis Alumni Association will award the Luther C. McClellan Scholarship to a graduate and undergraduate minority student attending The University of Memphis. The purpose of this award is to recognize students who have shown outstanding academic achievement, leadership qualities and community involvement. Each student who receives a scholarship will receive an award in the amount of $500 for the school year. The winners will also receive certificates acknowledging their selection.
Interested candidates must be full-time students at The University of Memphis. Transfer students are eligible for this award as long as they meet all the other criteria.
