A. General University Scholarship (Gus) Application For Continuing Students ( Fao)
The General University Scholarship (GUS) Application for Continuing Undergraduate students was established to receive applications for the GUS program, administered by the UM Financial Aid Office. To be eligible, students must submit the General Application Essay on “Why Education is Important”. Students are automatically matched with this scholarship opportunity, and there are no additional questions beyond the General Application.
The Deadline for Application is FEBRUARY 15, 2018. If selected for a GUS, students will be notified in Mid-May of 2018, with further information about the donor(s) who gave to the UM General University Scholarship Program.
Applications are reviewed each spring by the General University Scholarship Committee. The Committee is comprised of faculty and staff from various disciplines across campus.Over 200,000 in scholarships will be awarded each year. A. Native American General Student Scholarship Application
The University of Montana’s Native American Studies Department is dedicated to promoting high academic achievement among Native American students and assisting them with reaching their educational goals. To uphold this objective, scholarships are awarded each year to undergraduate and graduate students in various University of Montana-Missoula and Missoula College majors. All Native American students admitted to the University of Montana are encourage to complete this application. To be eligible students must plan on enrolling for the next academic year. Alaback And Brewer Melipal Fellowship: Fellowships For Field Studies In Conservation And Public Education In Patagonia A
The Fund shall be used to provide awards for extended research study in Latin America for students with an interest in Conservation Biology and Sustainable Development as well as public education and outreach for these topics. Priority is given for students in the Resource Conservation program that wish to work in Chile or Argentina; secondary priority is for students of any CFC major wishing to work on these topics anywhere in Latin America. The fellowship is open to undergraduates to do a field-oriented senior thesis project, or for graduate students to enhance their thesis research. The fellowship can be used for travel and per diem expenses for extended study (not to be used to simply attend a short conference or course). The fellowship will fund studies related to 1) conservation biology and sustainable development, and/or 2) conservation education to bring scientific knowledge of this region to the public. The Art Associates of Missoula Scholarship Fund shall be used to provide one scholarship per year of $1,000 to a deserving student, graduate or undergraduate, who is either an art studio major or an art education major in the College of Visual and Performing Arts at The University of Montana. Asum Research And Creative Scholarship
The Research and Creative Scholarship Fund (RCSF) was established to fund student research, creative works, or travel to present/conduct such works. This fund is made available by ASUM (The Associate Students of the University of Montana), the Office of Research and Creative Scholarship, and the Office of the Provost. Students must be enrolled in at least 7 credits and be in good academic standing to apply for funding.
Proposals for Winter/Spring will open on October 15 and close on Nov 27, 2019. The project date must occur between January 1, 2020 and June 30, 2020.

Funding requests for projects will be available to undergraduate and graduate students for the purpose of:

Funding from Beth Morris’ Estate will provide up to $3,000 in scholarships for students on the Cycle the Rockies course in 2016. Students on the Cycle the Rockies course will bicycle 700 miles while exploring Montana and studying the ecological, social, and economic issues associated with energy production and use.

Bitterroot College Bootstrap Scholarship
The Fund will provide scholarships to Bitterroot College UM students according to the following guidelines: Recipients must be full time students (enrolled in at least 12 credits) and be non-traditional students (not right out of high school). Recipients must have at least one dependent under the age of twelve, and must have completed at least 9 credits at the Bitterroot College UM in his/her declared Associate of Applied Science degree program, or in his/her declared pre-Healthcare Professions Associate of Applied Science program with a GPA of at least 2.75 (not including remedial courses). Recipients must have a course completion rate of 70 percent or higher and have an Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) of $0.00 (zero dollars) as determined by the UM Office of Financial Aid Need Analysis. Bob Kennedy Memorial Award
The Bob Kennedy Memorial Award was established at the same time as the Chris Greene Memorial Award. Mr. Kennedy attended UM from 1971 to 1976, graduating with a B.S. in Forestry. He was very active in the Forestry Club and the Foresters’ Ball. He was described as “always ready to pull a practical joke or do something crazy, like help hang the Foresters’ Ball sign from the UM smokestack.” He died while working for the Weyerhaeuser Timber Company in Coos Bay, Oregon. The award is designated for a junior or returning senior in Forest Resources Management and is based on financial need, dedication to the profession of forestry, and strength in timber management. more...

Bonnie Hamilton Msw Scholarship
To provide annual scholarships (Spring Semester) for graduate students in the Master’s of Social Work (MSW) Program at The University of Montana who are Native American. The students should demonstrate energy and ambition and plan to work for the good of Native Americans on the reservation after his/her formal schooling is completed. The scholarship can be renewed provided the students are making good academic progress, as determined by the chair of the School of Social Work, and reapply for this stipend. The recipients each year shall be determined by the chair and faculty representatives of the School of Social Work. If there are no qualified Native American students, the scholarship may be given to otherwise qualified students who plan to work for the good of Native Americans on a reservation after his/her formal schooling is completed. The Fund will provide scholarships to University of Montana undergraduate or graduate students in the College of Forestry and Conservation according to the following guidelines: Full-time junior, senior or graduate students pursuing a degree from the W.A. Franke College of Forestry and Conservation who intend to pursue a career related to the betterment of the environment. Recipients must have a GPA of at least 3.0 and demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office or its equivalent in existence at the time of the award. Priority should be given for students who are underrepresented in the UM student body population or are the first generation in their family to attend college. B) Recipients must be enrolled full-time on the University of Montana – Missoula campus in a program leading towards completion of a bachelor’s degree. Students enrolled at Missoula College are not eligible. C) Must meet financial need criteria established by the Office of Financial Aid. D) Undergraduate recipients must have accumulated 30 or more semester credits while achieving a GPA of 2.75 or higher. E) Renewal information: Undergraduate award recipients may be renewed for up to two additional years. Undergraduate awards may be renewed for a second year for recipients who completed 30 semester credits and achieved a 3.0 or higher GPA during the first award year. Further, undergraduate awards may be renewed for a third year for recipients who completed 30 semester credits and achieved a 3.25 or higher GPA during the second award year. Graduate awards may be renewed for a second year for recipients who completed 9 semester credits of graduate level work and achieved a 3.25 or higher GPA during the first year of the award. If due to extenuating circumstances, a graduate student has not completed the 9 semester credits required for renewal, the scholarship selection committee may, at its discretion, re-award the scholarship. Additionally, once a graduate or undergraduate recipient has received the award, that individual will not be disqualified for subsequent awards based upon the fact that the minor child or children are no longer residing with the recipient.

The Fund will provide scholarships to University of Montana graduate students in the Department of Health and Human Performance according to the following guidelines: Recipient must be accepted in a CAATE (Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education) entry-level master’s program that concludes with a master’s degree and must have a cumulative overall GPA of at least 3.0 for the prior 40 credits of his or her undergraduate courses and all of his or her entry level master’s courses with at least one academic year remaining in the master’s program. The Fund will provide scholarships to University of Montana graduate or undergraduate students in the College of Forestry and Conservation according to the following guidelines: Students who are enrolled in the College of Forestry and Conservation at the University of Montana. Qualified applicants must be pursuing one of the following degrees: (1) Bachelor of Science in Forestry with an emphasis in Forest Resource Management or Range Resource Management; (2) Bachelor of Science in Recreation Resource Management; (3) Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Biology. Qualified applicants may also be pursuing graduate degrees in the above areas. Scif Sables Brown-Monson Foundation Hunting Heritage Scholarship
The SCIF Sables Brown-Monson Foundation Hunting Heritage Scholarship shall be used to provide at least one undergraduate scholarship per academic year that is awarded in accordance with the following criteria:
*Recipient must be a citizen of the United States of America or a permanent resident.
*Students attending The University of Montana who are in their junior or senior year and pursuing a course of study leading to a B.A. or B.S. degree in the field of Wildlife Biology. A student awarded the scholarship in their junior year will be awarded the scholarship in their senior year provided all these selection criteria continued to be met.
*Recipient must demonstrate financial need as determined by the Office of Financial Aid or its equivalent in existence at the time of the award.
*Preference will be given to students who self-identify in writing they are a hunter.
*Recipient must have a 3.0 GPA or better on a scale of 4.0 to be eligible for and/or retain a scholarship award.
*Scholarship recipients may be invited to attend the SCI Convention (preferably in their junior year). SCIF will pay 100% of reasonable and necessary travel, food, accommodation, and expenses for such attendance at the SCI Convention. SCIF will not invite recipients to AWLS in lieu of attending the SCI Convention. Such expenses shall not be paid from the Fund.
*Recipients may agree to allow the Sables and the BMF to use their names and other relevant information in publications announcing the scholarship in articles for the Sables newsletter, in articles in the SCI Foundation and Safari Club International (hereinafter collectively “SCI”) publications and magazines, and in the local papers and magazines in the area(s) in which the recipient(s) reside and in which Donors make grants. Such articles and announcements will be used to increase the visibility of the Sables, SCI and BMF, to promote fund raising for further additions to the Fund, to promote knowledge of the Fund, and to advertise the availability of this scholarship each year through its newsletter, Sable Chapter Committees, SCI Chapters, SCI Foundation and SCI publications and magazines and local newspapers and magazines in areas where the Donors make grants.

University Dining Service Student Employee Scholarship
The purpose of the Campus Dining Student Employee Scholarship is to recognize outstanding student employees. Campus Dining is awarding four (4) $500 scholarships for Fall Semester 2021. These scholarships are awarded to full-time students (12 credits or more for undergraduate students; 9 credits of more for graduate students) who are current Campus Dining student employees at the time the scholarship is awarded. Students may not be awarded scholarships in two consecutive semesters that the scholarships are offered. Each undergraduate recipient must be in his or her junior year in the fall of the academic year of the award and each graduate student must have completed one semester in a graduate program by the fall of the academic year of the award. Each applicant must also provide a letter of recommendation from a faculty member.

Whitehall Garden Club Horticulture Scholarship
The Whitehall Garden Club is again offering a scholarship to any Montana high school or home school graduate attending a Montana institution of higher learning and is a current student with a class rating of 2nd semester sophomore or higher with a major in the Horticulture field. William R. (Bud) And Jane Buckhouse Moore Graduate Research Endowment
The Fund will support: Research projects by graduate or post-graduate level students who are focusing their studies on the Northern Rocky Mountain – Crown of the Continent bioregion. Areas of study include programs focused on Resource Conservation, Systems Ecology and Society and Conservation. Although the funds will be administered through the College of Forestry and Conservation, research support for selected student projects is open to application not only by students in the College of Forestry and Conservation, but also to students in the Division of Biological Sciences (excluding study of human biology and medical technology). Awards will be based on a merit research award application process. However, if two or more research projects have equal merit, then the award should be made to the student applicant who has the most financial need based on the Financial Aid need analysis. Applicants should have a minimum GPA of 3.0 (B" average) with a good academic record but, above all, should have a clear view of how their project connects to one or more of the fields listed below. Applicants should be motivated by a deep respect for the land that sustains us. Studies should include:
Enhancing our knowledge of native species and their connections and dependencies (in particular, endangered, threatened or potentially threatened species, or, inversely, invasives and their control).
Understanding, protecting, restoring and/or expanding wilderness (examples from Bud Moore’s work, including the proposed Great Burn Wilderness area, the proposed Swan Front addition to the Bob Marshall Wilderness area, Monture Creek, etc. These examples can be found in the William R. Moore Collection at the Mansfield Library Archives.)

Connectivity and scale (from landscapes to micro-habitats) – all things are inter-related

Winslow Family Business Scholarship Endowment
The Fund will provide scholarships to University of Montana undergraduate students in the College of Business according to the following guidelines:
Sophomore, junior or senior students in the College of Business. The scholarship is open to both out-of-state students or Montana residents, however students must demonstrate financial need as determined by the Office of Financial Aid or its equivalent in existence at the time of the award. Zuuring - Magip Graduate Gis Scholarship
The Fund shall be used to provide scholarships for first-year graduate students who are in good standing at the University of Montana. Students do not need to be registered during the summer. Recipients may study any discipline, but must be working on a project that incorporates geographic information system sciences and technologies as a significant part of their thesis research. Projects must have a reasonable chance of completion within 1.5 years or less. Strength of geographic information system sciences and technologies is more important than financial need; however, financial need may be used as a secondary criterion.
