Aafmcc Adjunct Family Scholarship
The Association of Adjunct Faculty of Macomb Community College (AAFMCC) represents over 1,300 Adjunct Faculty at the college. On October 30, 2015 the AAFMCC Executive Board approved an annual $1,000 scholarship ($500 each fall and winter term) for one child of an adjunct instructor to take classes at MCC.

Andrew Stephen Meek Memorial Scholarship
Established in memory of Andrew (Drew) S. Meek who graduated from Macomb Community College in May 2001, with a 3.8 GPA. After barely graduating from high school and dropping out of a community college in Arizona, a belief in himself and motivation from instructors at Macomb propelled Andrew toward achieving academic success. Continuing his education at Michigan State University, Drew graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. Drew eventually became a secondary education teacher in Social Studies where he instilled the value and love of learning in his students. Andrew passed away before ever achieving his full potential. He will always be remembered for his profound, thought-provoking conversations, his love of books, and encouraging others to get an education. This scholarship will be used to assist students who desire a post-secondary education but lack the funds to achieve their educational goals.

Bartholomew F. Fiumano Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Established in memory of Bart Fiumano, a dedicated counselor at Macomb Community College from 1968 to 2007, to provide scholarship assistance to students at Macomb Community College. Bart was committed to helping students throughout their journeys at Macomb: from career and interest exploration, to choosing appropriate coursework, and pursuing employment. He was largely responsible for the development of the Life Career Development Course (currently Life 1010). Through this scholarship, the Fiumano family continues Bart’s legacy of student service, helping students pursue their educational interests while working towards their long-term career goals.

James Raymond Martin Memorial Scholarship
Established in memory of James (Jamie) Raymond Martin, who was a graduate of Eisenhower High School. He studied Business at Macomb Community College and entered the career of Real Estate at the age of 23. He married Amy Rose Martin in 2015. The two were involved in a car accident in September of that year, where Jamie and their unborn son, Jameson, tragically lost their lives. Jamie was on-day shy of his 27th birthday. Amy Martin survived the accident. Jamie loved kids and donated his organs, saving around 50 lives. This scholarship is available to Macomb Community College students to assist with meeting their educational goals.

Larry Fields Award In Respiratory Therapy
This award is established by the family of Marianne Bloomfield Wicka in gratitude to Larry Fields, an inspiring teacher in the Respiratory Therapy Program at Macomb Community College. Marianne was a non-traditional student who graduated with high honors from the Respiratory Therapy Program in 1974. She attributed much of her academic achievement to Mr. Field, who actively encouraged her to submit a paper to the Mead Johnson Foundation, for which she won the grand prize. After graduation, Marianne went on to a successful 24-year career as a respiratory therapist at Bi-County Hospital until retirement at age 70. Mr. Fields was the third Program Coordinator for the Respiratory Therapy Program at Macomb Community College. He began his career in 1970 and retired in 2010. He was an outstanding instructor and was well respected by many.

Laura K. Osaer, D.O. Memorial Endowed Scholarship For The Sciences
Established in memory of Laura K. Osaer, D.O. a bright, driven student whose love, compassion and generosity for others was immeasurable. Her life was tragically cut short by a car accident during her final year of medical school. In April 2020, Laura was posthumously awarded her medical degree by The Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. A lifelong resident of Macomb County, Laura took courses at Macomb Community College during high school and participated in Science Olympiad tournaments hosted annually on Macomb’s campus. Family and friends established this scholarship to share in her memory to continue her legacy of helping others and supporting a student who is passionate about science and learning.

Leslie And Del Corey Family Endowed Scholarship Fund For Veteran & Military Services
The Leslie and Del Corey Scholarship Fund was established in 2017 by Leslie Corey in memory of her husband, Del Corey. Del joined Macomb Community College in 1965 and retired after 30 years of dedicated service in 1995. Del was a veteran, a teacher, a writer, a poet and a friend to all. He served in the Army, 82nd Airborne 1953-1956, during the Korean Conflict. He was forever grateful to the military GI Bill, which without that support; he likely wouldn’t have had a college degree. This scholarship is available for veteran and military services students at Macomb Community College.

Margaret Anderson Scholarship
Established by the S. Gary Spicer, Sr. Foundation, this scholarship is to honor Margaret Anderson for her dedication to teaching Economics at Macomb Community College. Margaret attended Macomb Community College and received her Associate Degree in General Studies in 1992 and an Associate Degree in Applied Science in 1993, then went on to earn her Master’s in Economics. Margaret was a pioneer as she entered the non-traditional role for women becoming the first female Economics adjunct faculty member at Macomb in 2004. Margaret continues to teach and mentor her students to achieve their educational and career goals. Polc Richard R. Weiler Police Academy Scholarship
On August 13, 1993, Richard Weiler started the union organization known as the Police Officers Labor Council (POLC). Subsequently, scholarships were awarded by the POLC through the Law Enforcement Education Program (LEEP) to prospective public safety candidates to continue their education. Now, in his honor, in an effort to assist future public safety candidates, the POLC has established this scholarship.

This scholarship is named after former Michigan Schools and Government Credit Union Board Member Stephen Thomas. Thomas R. Mill Memorial Endowed Scholarship For The Public Service Institute
This scholarship was established by family, friends, and colleagues of Thomas Mill to continue his legacy of public service. Tom began his service to Macomb County as a public safety officer for the city of Fraser. He then served as a firefighter/paramedic for the city of Roseville Fire Department before retiring as Deputy Chief of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Training. During this time, Tom also served as Adjunct Faculty for the Macomb Community College police and fire academies. In 2000, he accepted a full-time position with Macomb’s Public Service Institute in the Emergency Medical Services department and served in this role until he retired in 2017. Tom left a lasting impact on the students he taught and the community he served. This scholarship will provide financial support to students training to become future police officers, firefighters, paramedics, and emergency medical technicians within our community.

This scholarship is in memory of Tom “Wakes” Waelchli, who passed away suddenly on April 20, 2020. After receiving his master’s degree from Wayne State University, Tom went on to live his life immersed in his number one passion: Baseball. Wakes coached baseball for Macomb’s athletics program since 1985. His love for the game took him around the world to coach, play and mentor.
