Waukesha County Technical College (WCTC) is a public college in Waukesha County, Wisconsin. The college offers more than 150 programs leading to associate degrees, technical diplomas and certificates. WCTC is one of 16 colleges in the Wisconsin Technical College System.
WCTC has four campuses: the main campus in Pewaukee, the Downtown Campus in Waukesha, the North Campus in Brookfield and the South Campus in New Berlin. The college also has a Public Safety Training Center, which offers law enforcement and fire science training.
WCTC was founded in 1912 as a trade school for the Waukesha County area. The school initially offered courses in carpentry, mechanics and machine shop. In the 1930s, the school began offering courses in electricity and welding. In the 1940s, the school began offering courses in business and secretarial science. In the 1950s, the school began offering courses in nursing and health occupations.
In the 1960s, the school began offering courses in computer technology, electronics and engineering. In the 1970s, the school began offering courses in automotive technology and culinary arts. In the 1980s, the school began offering courses in graphic design and photography. In the 1990s, the school began offering courses in web design and multimedia.
Today, WCTC offers more than 150 programs leading to associate degrees, technical diplomas and certificates. The college also offers a variety of continuing education and professional development courses.
