Admission Requirements
Tunxis Community College is a public community college in Farmington, Connecticut. The college offers associate's degrees and certificate programs in a variety of academic and occupational fields.
Admission to Tunxis Community College is open to all students who have a high school diploma or equivalent. The college has an open admissions policy, meaning that all students who meet the minimum requirements for admission will be accepted into the college.
Once students have been accepted into the college, they will need to complete a placement test to determine their level of English and Math. Based on the results of the placement test, students will be placed into the appropriate English and Math courses.
Students who have prior college experience may be eligible for advanced placement into higher-level courses. To be eligible for advanced placement, students must submit official transcripts from all previous colleges attended. Advanced placement is determined on a case-by-case basis and is not guaranteed.
Once all placement testing is complete, students will meet with an advisor to create a schedule of classes for their first semester. Advisors will help students select courses that are appropriate for their level of English and Math, as well as their academic and career goals.
After registering for classes, students will need to pay their tuition and fees. Tuition and fees can be paid online, by mail, or in person. Students who are unable to pay their tuition and fees in full may be eligible for financial aid.
Financial aid is available in the form of grants, loans, and work-study programs. To be eligible for financial aid, students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA must be completed each year in order to receive financial aid.
Students who have questions about the admission process or need help completing the application can contact the Admissions Office at Tunxis Community College. The Admissions Office is open Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm.
