The Tennessee College of Applied Technology-McMinnville (TCAT-McMinnville) is a two-year public institution of higher education and a member of the Tennessee Board of Regents system. The college is located in McMinnville, Tennessee, approximately 60 miles southeast of Nashville. The college offers Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degrees and technical certificates in a variety of career and technical fields, as well as adult education and continuing education courses.
TCAT-McMinnville was established in 1965 as the McMinnville Vocational-Technical School. The school initially offered programs in auto mechanics, carpentry, and cosmetology. In 1971, the school was renamed the McMinnville Area Vocational-Technical School and began offering additional programs in welding, machine shop technology, and office systems technology. In 1988, the school was renamed the Tennessee Technology Center at McMinnville and became a member of the Tennessee Board of Regents system. In 2001, the school was renamed the Tennessee College of Applied Technology-McMinnville.
Today, TCAT-McMinnville offers over 30 programs of study leading to AAS degrees and technical certificates. The college also offers a variety of adult education and continuing education courses. TCAT-McMinnville is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).
