St. Clair County Community College was founded in 1966. The College is named after the county in which it is located, St. Clair County, Michigan. The College’s first campus was located in downtown Port Huron. In 1971, the College moved to its current location on a 200-acre campus on the outskirts of the city.

The College is governed by a seven-member Board of Trustees, all of whom are appointed by the Governor of Michigan. The Board sets policy and oversees the College’s budget. The College’s President is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the College.
