Southern University at Shreveport (SUSLA) is a public university in Shreveport, Louisiana. The university is a member of the Southern University System. It was founded in 1967 and accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools in 1968. The university offers associate's, bachelor's, and master's degrees in a variety of disciplines.

SUSLA was founded in 1967 as a result of the Civil Rights Movement and the desegregation of public universities in Louisiana. The university was established as a two-year institution and accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools in 1968. The first class of students enrolled in fall 1968. In 1969, the Louisiana Legislature designated SUSLA as a four-year institution and the university began offering bachelor's degrees. In 1974, SUSLA became a member of the Southern University System.

The university has experienced significant growth since its founding. Enrollment has increased from just over 500 students in the fall of 1968 to nearly 4,000 in fall 2018. The campus has also grown, with the addition of new academic buildings, residence halls, and athletic facilities.
