Rolla Technical Institute/Center is a public, two-year technical college located in Rolla, Missouri. The school offers associate degrees and technical certificates in a variety of career and technical fields, such as automotive technology, business technology, computer science, cosmetology, culinary arts, engineering technology, health science, and welding.
Founded in 1966, Rolla Technical Institute was the first technical college in Missouri. The school was originally housed in the old Rolla High School building, which had been vacant since the high school moved to a new facility in 1964. In its early years, the school offered programs in auto mechanics, business, and cosmetology.
In 1971, the school moved to its current location on Forum Drive. The new campus included a library, classrooms, laboratories, and shops. In the 1980s, the school added programs in computer science, engineering technology, and health science. In the 1990s, the school added programs in culinary arts and welding.
Today, Rolla Technical Institute is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and offers more than 30 career and technical programs. The school has an enrollment of more than 1,000 students and a faculty of more than 100. The school also offers a variety of adult education and continuing education programs.
