New Mexico Military Institute (NMMI) is a state-supported educational institution located in Roswell, New Mexico, United States. NMMI is the only state-supported coeducational college preparatory military school in the nation. It was founded in 1891 as the Roswell Academy. It is the oldest military junior college in the United States.

NMMI offers a college preparatory curriculum for grades 7-12, as well as a two-year junior college program. All students are required to participate in the Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) program. NMMI is one of five military junior colleges that offer Army ROTC programs. The Institute is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award associate degrees. It is also accredited by the Inter-service Academy Board and the Army, Navy, and Air Force to offer ROTC programs.

The campus of NMMI covers approximately 1,200 acres (4.9 km2) and includes 18 buildings. The campus is home to the New Mexico Museum of Space History. The Institute's athletic teams compete in the Western Junior College Athletic Conference of the National Junior College Athletic Association.

NMMI was founded in 1891 as the Roswell Academy. It was chartered by the New Mexico Territorial Legislature and opened on September 16, 1891, with 32 students. The school was founded as a private academy, but in 1898 it became a state-supported institution. In 1902, the name was changed to the New Mexico Military Institute.

The first class of cadets graduated in May 1904. NMMI became a junior college in 1931 and began offering two-year degrees. In 1948, the Institute was authorized by the Legislature to offer four-year degrees. In 1962, NMMI became a coeducational institution.

The Institute is located in Roswell, New Mexico, a city of approximately 48,000 people in southeastern New Mexico. Roswell is the home of the International UFO Museum and Research Center.
