Howard Community College (HCC) is a two-year, public institution of higher education located in Columbia, Maryland. The college offers a wide variety of credit and non-credit courses, as well as workforce development and continuing education programs. Founded in 1957, HCC was the first community college in Maryland and one of the first in the nation. HCC offers more than 100 degree and certificate programs, as well as a variety of non-credit courses and programs. The college’s academic offerings are divided into five divisions: Arts and Humanities, Business and Social Sciences, Education and Human Development, Health Sciences, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). HCC also offers a number of unique programs, including the Honors Program, the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, and the Maryland Advanced Technology Training Center.
