Houston Community College (HCC) is a public community college in Houston, Texas, United States. Founded in 1971, it is the largest community college system in Texas and the third-largest community college district in the United States. HCC serves more than 70,000 students each semester across its 13 campuses.

HCC offers a wide variety of academic programs and services to meet the needs of its diverse student body. Associate degrees and certificates in more than 190 academic and career programs are available, as well as non-credit continuing education and workforce training courses.

The college is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges and is a member of the American Association of Community Colleges. HCC is also designated as a Hispanic-Serving Institution by the U.S. Department of Education.

In 1971, the Houston Independent School District (HISD) board of trustees voted to establish a community college system. The new community college district was approved by the Texas Legislature in May 1971, and Houston Community College (HCC) was established.

HCC's first classes were held in September 1972 at the former San Jacinto High School campus. The following year, the college moved to its current location in the Houston Heights.

Today, HCC serves more than 70,000 students each semester across its 13 campuses. The college offers a wide variety of academic programs and services to meet the needs of its diverse student body.
