Wright State University is a public research university in Dayton, Ohio, United States. It is one of the largest universities in Ohio and is part of the University System of Ohio. The university comprises eight colleges: Business, Education and Human Services, Engineering and Computer Science, Liberal Arts, Nursing and Health, Graduate School, and Wright State Physicians. The university offers over 200 undergraduate degrees and 100 graduate degrees.

Wright State University was founded in 1964 as a branch campus of Miami University and Ohio State University. The school was named after the Wright brothers, who invented the airplane. The campus was built on the site of the former Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. The university opened in 1967 with an enrollment of 2,000 students.

The university has grown steadily over the years and now has an enrollment of over 18,000 students. The school has a strong commitment to research and has been designated as a research university by the Carnegie Foundation. The university is home to the National Air and Space Intelligence Center, which is the primary intelligence center for the United States Air Force.

Wright State University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. The university is a member of the Association of American Universities, the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities, and the Ohio Board of Regents.
