The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee is a public research university located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in the United States. It is one of the two doctoral degree-granting public universities in the city, and is one of the largest universities in the Milwaukee metropolitan area with over 26,000 students. UW-Milwaukee is a member of the University of Wisconsin System. It is categorized as an RU/VH Research University in the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education.

The university consists of 14 schools and colleges, offering a total of nearly 200 degree programs. The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee has an urban campus that covers more than 200 acres (0.81 km2) in the heart of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The campus is home to over 50 buildings, including 15 residence halls that house more than 4,000 students. The campus is also home to the Golda Meir Library, the Peck School of the Arts, the Joseph J. Zilber School of Public Health, and the Helen Bader School of Social Welfare.
