The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay is a public university located in Green Bay, Wisconsin, United States. It is part of the University of Wisconsin System and offers bachelor's and master's degrees in a variety of disciplines. UW-Green Bay is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and has been ranked among the top public universities in the Midwest by U.S. News & World Report. The university was founded in 1965 as a campus of the University of Wisconsin system. It became an independent institution in 1971 and was renamed to its current name in 1991. The university enrolls about 6,000 students and employs over 400 faculty members. UW-Green Bay is organized into five colleges: Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences; Business, Public Administration and Information Sciences; Education and Human Development; Natural and Applied Sciences; and Nursing and Health Sciences. The university offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs, including business, education, engineering, environmental studies, and liberal arts. UW-Green Bay is home to the Cofrin School of Business, the School of Education and Human Development, and the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. The university is also home to a number of research centers and institutes, including the Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning, the Institute for Water Business, and the Institute for Environmental Studies.
