The University of West Georgia (UWG) is a public university in the U.S. state of Georgia. The university is located in Carrollton, approximately 45 miles (72 km) west of Atlanta. It is part of the University System of Georgia and has an enrollment of approximately 13,000 students. The school was founded in 1906 as the Fourth District Agricultural and Mechanical School, a land-grant college serving northwest Georgia. It became West Georgia College in 1957 and was renamed the University of West Georgia in 1996.

UWG offers over 140 undergraduate and graduate programs of study through four colleges and one school. The College of Arts and Sciences is the largest of the four colleges and offers the most degree programs. It is home to the university's Honors Program and houses the Departments of English, History, and Philosophy, among others. The Richards College of Business is the second largest college and is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. The Tanner Health System School of Nursing and the School of Education are the two smallest colleges. In addition to its main campus in Carrollton, UWG operates campuses in Newnan and Douglasville, and a site in Alpharetta.

UWG is governed by the University System of Georgia Board of Regents and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. The university's athletic teams, known as the West Georgia Wolves, compete in the NCAA Division II Gulf South Conference.
