The University of Saint Mary of the Lake, also known as Mundelein College, is a private Catholic university in Mundelein, Illinois. The university is a member institution of the Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities and is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. The university offers bachelor's and master's degrees in a variety of disciplines, with a focus on liberal arts education.

Founded in 1901 as a women's college by the Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the university was originally located in Chicago. In 1929, the university moved to its current location in Mundelein, about 30 miles northwest of Chicago. In 1934, the university became coeducational. In the 1950s, the university began to expand its academic programs, adding graduate programs and professional schools. In the 1990s, the university added a School of Nursing and a School of Education.

Today, the university enrolls about 3,000 students in its undergraduate and graduate programs. The university's campus is located on a wooded, lakeside property of about 500 acres. The campus includes several academic and administrative buildings, a chapel, a library, a student center, and residence halls.
