The University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown is a four-year, degree-granting institution and a regional campus of the University of Pittsburgh located in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, in the United States. It is one of four campuses of the University of Pittsburgh. Founded in 1927, Pitt-Johnstown is the first and largest regional campus of the University of Pittsburgh. It is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.
Pitt-Johnstown offers bachelor's degrees in more than 50 majors and concentrations, and master's degrees in Business Administration and Nursing. The campus is located on more than 200 acres (0.81 km2) in the suburban community of Richland Township, about 60 miles (97 km) east of Pittsburgh. The school's athletic teams compete in NCAA Division II as members of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC).
Pitt-Johnstown was founded in 1927 as a two-year branch of the University of Pittsburgh. The campus moved to its current location in Richland Township in 1950. In 1963, Pitt-Johnstown was granted full four-year status and began offering bachelor's degrees. The school became a regional campus of the University of Pittsburgh in 1966. The school's first master's degree program was established in 1969.
Pitt-Johnstown enrolls more than 4,000 undergraduate and graduate students from across Pennsylvania and around the world. The campus offers a variety of academic and extracurricular programs and activities. Pitt-Johnstown is home to a number of research centers and institutes, including the Center for Energy and Environmental Research, the Institute for Entrepreneurial Excellence, and the Center for Rural Development.
Pitt-Johnstown is governed by a Board of Trustees, which includes representatives from the University of Pittsburgh, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and the local community. The campus is led by a Chancellor, who is appointed by the Board of Trustees. The current Chancellor is Dr. Jem Spectar.
Pitt-Johnstown is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.
