The University of California-Riverside is a public research university located in Riverside, California. It is one of the ten campuses of the University of California system. The university offers bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees in more than 150 fields of study. The university's athletic teams are known as the Highlanders and compete in the NCAA Division I.

The university was founded in 1954 as the Citrus Experiment Station, a research facility of the University of California system. The station was established to study the citrus industry in California. In 1957, the station was renamed the University of California, Riverside. In 1959, the university became a general campus of the University of California system and began offering undergraduate and graduate degrees.

The university is organized into eight colleges: the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Engineering, the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences, the College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences, the College of Business and Economics, the College of Education, the College of Health Sciences, and the Graduate School.

The university's main campus is located on 1,900 acres (7.7 km2) in the foothills of the Santa Ana Mountains. The campus is adjacent to the city of Riverside and is about an hour's drive from Los Angeles and the Pacific Ocean.

The university offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs. Undergraduate majors include business, economics, English, history, psychology, and sociology. The university's graduate programs include business, education, engineering, and the sciences.

The university is home to the Bourns College of Engineering, the College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences, and the Marlan and Rosemary Bourns College of Engineering. The Bourns College of Engineering is the largest engineering school in the University of California system. The College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences is the largest college at the University of California-Riverside.

The university has a strong research program and is home to the Center for Nanoscale Science and Engineering, the Institute for Integrative Genome Biology, and the Center for Environmental Sciences. The university is also home to the Riverside Sports Complex, which includes a stadium, an arena, and a swimming complex.

The University of California-Riverside is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. The university's undergraduate and graduate programs are also accredited by various professional organizations.
