The University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR) is a public research university in Little Rock, Arkansas. Established in 1927 as Little Rock Junior College, it is the largest university in the city with over 11,000 students enrolled in over 100 undergraduate and graduate programs. The university offers degrees in a wide range of disciplines including business, law, health sciences, liberal arts, and sciences. The UALR Trojans compete in NCAA Division I athletics.

UALR was founded as Little Rock Junior College (LRJC) in 1927 by the Little Rock School District. The first class consisted of just over 100 students and was held in the former Little Rock High School building. LRJC was the first public junior college in Arkansas and offered two-year programs in business and teaching. In 1957, LRJC moved to its current location on University Avenue and renamed itself Little Rock University. In 1969, the Arkansas Legislature merged LRU with the former Little Rock Municipal College (now the University of Arkansas at Pulaski Tech) to form the present-day University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

The university has grown steadily since its founding and now comprises five colleges and one school: the College of Arts, Letters, and Sciences; the College of Business; the College of Education and Health Professions; the William H. Bowen School of Law; and the George W. Donaghey College of Engineering and Information Technology. The UALR Trojans compete in NCAA Division I athletics and are members of the Sun Belt Conference. The Trojans football team has won two conference championships (in 1998 and 2000) and has appeared in three bowl games. The men's basketball team has also won two conference championships (in 1999 and 2011) and has made four NCAA tournament appearances.
