Thomas Edison State University (TESU) is a public university located in Trenton, New Jersey. It is one of the 11 senior public colleges and universities in the New Jersey State system of higher education. The university offers associate, bachelor's, and master's degrees in more than 100 areas of study.

TESU was established in 1972 as Thomas Edison State College, a college for adults. The college was created in response to the needs of returning Vietnam War veterans and other adults who wanted to finish their college degrees. The college was named after Thomas Edison, the famous inventor and one of the first scientists to recognize the potential of electricity.

In 2015, the college was renamed Thomas Edison State University to reflect its growth and expansion. The university now serves more than 20,000 students from all 50 states and more than 100 countries.

TESU is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. The university's main campus is located in Trenton, New Jersey, just minutes from the state capital of Trenton and the New Jersey State House. The university also has several off-campus centers located throughout New Jersey.
