Spelman College is a private, liberal arts, historically black college for women located in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. The college is part of the Atlanta University Center consortium. Founded in 1881 as the Atlanta Baptist Female Seminary, Spelman was the fourth historically black female institution of higher education to open its doors in the United States. The college's founders were both women of color and former slaves.

Spelman is ranked among the nation's top liberal arts colleges by U.S. News & World Report and is a member of the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities. The Princeton Review also included Spelman in its Best Colleges guide for 2020. The college is also included in The Best 382 Colleges: 2020 Edition published by The Princeton Review.

Spelman is the largest historically black college for women in the United States and produces more black women graduates who go on to earn doctorates than any other college in the nation. The college is also one of the nation's top producers of Fulbright Scholars.

In 2019, Spelman College announced it would be going test-optional for applicants starting in Fall 2020. The college also offers a number of unique programs, such as the Spelman Scholars program which provides full-tuition scholarships to high-achieving students, and the Maynard Jackson program which offers free SAT and ACT prep courses to Atlanta-area high school students.
